Jem was an American animated television series that ran from 1985 to 1988 in U.S. first-run syndication. The show is about a singer named Jem, her band the Holograms and their adventures. Catch phrases from the show included "Showtime, Synergy!" and "Truly outrageous!" (the latter usually associated with supporting character Kimber).
Despite the fact that the show was originally designed by Hasbro for the purpose of marketing a line of dolls, it employed several interweaving storylines and a complex backstory — both unusual in an animated television series during the 1980s. The show also features one-minute music videos, tying it in with the concept of MTV and its burgeoning popularity.

I loved Jem... they didn't last very long though did they??
1This was my favourite 80's toy/show. I have every episode and love the songs! My boyfriend is tolerant and awesome enough to have watched every episode with me!
2When I was a little girl one of my first dolls was Glitter N Gold Jem. I later added Kimber, Pizazz and Clash to my collection. My sister had Synergy.
My mum really liked the fact that the dolls were taller and that they didn't have the ridiculous body build of Barbie- these dolls had smaller boobs and actually had hips! They also had rotating wrists (unfortunately Glitter and Gold Jem's wrist rotated right off!)
I was really impressed that Glitter and Gold Jem's earrings flashed when you pressed a switch on her back. I wore out those batteries very quickly!
I remember playing with our dolls together and as usual I wanted my dolls to be nasty to my sister's dolls (ah, kids). I got a little carried away and bashed my sister in the face with Pizazz's leg and she left the room crying. My mom sat me down and had a talk with me about how to play nice with my dolls lol
I still have my dolls although Clash's dress unraveled and I think something happened to the doll.
I was Jem for Halloween in 2nd (?) grade. I wish I still had the wig.
3I loved the cartoon but i was never lucky enough to get the doll.

4I think I had the original Jem doll, but none of the others. My sisters and I LOVED this show; we would get off of the bus from school and run home everyday so that we wouldn't miss it on TV. I don't really remember being into any other show that much besides maybe Fraggle Rock. I wish that I could find all of the old episodes and watch them again. They are probably all on youtube.
5I asked for Jem doll for Christmas, because I loved, loved her. Well, Santa bought me Roxy instead,so I had to switch sides.

6I forgot to mention this... my sister and I sang and danced to a JEM song in the talent show when I was in 1st grade! Remember the tapes that came with the dolls? Well side B was a karaoke type mix of the song, no vocals. Our mum made us black and silver glittery outfits. We had curled and crimped hair, and I must say: we were TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!

14omg! I loooooved Jem. I had a Jem doll, I remember it came with a casette of her songs. "Jem is my name no one else is the same JEEEEM". lol! I think my lil sister had the one with the black hair and neon green outfit.

18Ahhhhh JEM and the Holligrams!! Yes, my sister and I had the dolls. She got Jem (as usual) and I got one of the Misfits, I don't remember which doll I had unless I saw it.
19Whoooooooooooooa! Look at Rio - wow. I forgot about these dolls! I think I only had Jem and I forced my little half sister to be one of the other girls....what can I say, I was older...
